A flat on the I-10 swamp crossing toward Kenner or on I-55 heading north from LaPlace leaves almost nowhere to stop. Book a tire change in the Hopper app as soon as you're safely off the road, and a driver comes to put on your spare.
If you're on an elevated section, slow down, keep your hazards on and aim for the next exit. In town, a lot along Airline Highway or a side street gives the driver room to work.
Trucks heading to and from the plants along the river share the roads around LaPlace, and debris on the shoulder is common. If you've picked up a nail, a slow leak can usually wait for a lot rather than the shoulder of I-10.
What to expect
A tire change means a driver comes to your car and swaps the flat for your spare. Before you book, check that you have a spare and that it holds air, and look for the wheel lock key if your wheels use locking lug nuts. If you're on a busy road, turn on your hazards and wait somewhere safe away from traffic, not beside the car.
A tip for LaPlace drivers
If you break down on Airline Highway, get into a parking lot if you can. It's safer than the roadside.
